30 Minute Breadsticks

There was a week that we didn't have eggs, and if you know me and my baking urges, that could have been a problem! However, we managed as I found several recipes to make that did not require eggs. These breadsticks were one of them! After making them several times tweaking several things, we have the quickest and yummiest breadsticks you'll ever throw together! Perfect for the last minute need or want for breadsticks! Delicious sopping up soup, residual salad dressing, or even alone!

30 MINUTE BREADSTICKS

makes 20-30 breadsticks

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 cup warm water

  • 2 Tbsp sugar

  • 1 Tbsp yeast

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3 1/2 cup All- Purpose Flour

  • 1/4 cup Butter, melted

  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1/3 C grated Parmesan or the shake Parmesan

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix the water, sugar and yeast together in a medium sized bowl.

  2. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Add the salt and the flour until it is well incorporated and the dough is soft but not sticky.

  4. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.

  5. Meanwhile, melt the butter and pour half of it onto a cookie sheet (18x13 inches).

  6. Mix the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and Parmesan cheese together in a small bowl.

  7. Place the dough in the center of the pan. Let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes so it will be much easier to spread out.

  8. Spread the dough out flat onto the pan until it reaches all of the edges.

  9. Pour the other half of the butter onto the dough and spread it all over the dough.

  10. Sprinkle the seasoning and cheese all over the dough.

  11. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough in half lengthwise, and then cut each half into about 12 little rows perpendicular to the first cut. You can cut them thinner or wider based on preference.

  12. Put the pan into a 180°F oven for about 10 minutes. The breadsticks will rise a bit.

  13. Turn the oven up to 350°F and bake for about 12 minutes, or until golden brown.

  14. Using a pair of scissors, cut the edges where the pizza cutter couldn't reach.
