Mean, Green, & Dairy Free Pasta Sauce

If your looking for a lighter and dairy free pasta sauce, this here is your recipe! It gets even better since you throw it all in the blender then cook! If you are fine with some dairy, feel free to sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top, or throw in some pesto!


 

MEAN, GREEN & DAIRY FREE PASTA SAUCE

makes about 2 cups


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 cup Almond Milk

  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • Dash of Nutmeg

  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice

  • 1/2 tsp Creole Seasoning (you can add more if needed)

  • 3 cups Fresh Spinach

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil (you can use butter if you prefer that)

  • 2 Tbsp Flour

  • Top with Dairy Free cheese (or dairy cheese if you are just limiting dairy or calories)


METHOD:

  1. In a blender, combine milk, pepper, salt, garlic powder, nutmeg, Italian seasoning, lemon juice, Creole seasoning, and spinach.

  2. Blend until well combined.

  3. In a medium sized sauce pan, heat oil.

  4. Stir in flour and let cook for 1 minute.

  5. Pour milk mixture into the sauce pan and cook over medium heat until it begins to simmer and thickens.

  6. Once it begins to thicken, remove from heat.

  7. Mix into your choice of pasta.
