Ryan and I both loved watching Rachael Ray on The Food Network when we were younger. I was recently watching an episode for old times sake and the episode was on pizza, of course. At the end of her 30 Minute Meal, she drizzled her pizza with "hot honey". "Honey on pizza?", I thought.
A few weeks later I came across a recipe for hot honey. It wasn't just some warmed up honey, it is actually honey infused with peppers or hot sauce. Hmmm..
So I whipped a batch up but changed a few things to our liking. Oh boy, I could not stop licking the spoon! Or the pot. It has the sweetness of honey with a perfect kick of spice. We drizzled it on our pepperoni pizza as well as our white sauce pizza with goat cheese. AH-MAZING!
I think we will be putting this on our pizzas forever!
It's goes great on chicken (think fried chicken too!), burgers, cornbread, fish, or even just a spoon!
HOT HONEY
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup Honey
1 Tbsp hot sauce, we like Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
1/4 tsp Salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Over medium heat, combine all ingredients in a small saucepan.
Heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
Boil for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Store at room temperature for up to a month.
Microwave briefly to get it to a runny consistency to drizzle on food.
Drizzle on everything!
